The Convention is from 10am-5pm on Saturday, February 7th with an evening concert beginning at 8pm - see below for details!


The ASU Old-Time Fiddlers Convention is held on the campus of Appalachian State University and is 100% student operated. This unique three-day event draws over 400 attendees from nine states and celebrates the rich musical and cultural history of the Appalachian region. Events include; concerts, instructional workshops, music competitions, a gathering of luthiers, as well as a handmade market featuring crafters from across the region.

A Special Screening of the Documentary, "Throw Down Your Heart"

"Throw Down Your Heart” follows American banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck on his journey to Africa to explore the little known African roots of the banjo and record an album.  It’s a boundary-breaking musical adventure that celebrates the beauty and complexity of Africa – an Africa that is very different from what is often seen in the media today.
