2017 Fiddler's Convention

The convention is from 10:00am-5:00pm on Saturday, February 4th with an evening concert at Legends.

The Appalachian State Old-Time Fiddlers Convention is held on the campus of Appalachian State University and is 100% student operated. This unique event draws over 400 attendees from nine states and celebrates the rich musical and cultural history of the Appalachian region. Events include; concerts, instructional workshops, music competitions, a gathering of luthiers, as well as a handmade market featuring crafters from across the region.

All events are family friendly!

Appalachian Old Time Square Dance

Bring a partner or find one on the dance floor, come and enjoy a night of dancing and fun. Featuring the music of Strictly Strings and caller Aaron Ratcliffe.

Where: Legends (On campus of the Appalachian State University)

When: 7:30pm (Doors/Beginner Lesson), 8:00pm (Dance)

Tickets: $3 Student, $5 Public

Children 13+ can come with a guardian!

Main Event: Fiddlers Convention in Plemmons Student Union

Events on Saturday, February 5th include; contests throughout the day, a handmade market in the International Hallway, a luthiers gathering in Blue Ridge Ballroom,and workshops (fiddle, banjo, dance, slow jam, and storytelling) throughout the day!
